The Care Hub fosters family visits and connection, featuring home-like high care rooms with communal spaces that promote independence.
Nestled within Gardenia House, the third phase of The Verge Development, the Care Hub provides 10 respite care rooms, including 2 specifically tailored for bariatric use, along with shared communal facilities. As part of Retire Australia’s innovative continuum of care model, the Care Hub seamlessly integrates enhanced support services within the retirement living village. This allows residents to smoothly transition from their homes at The Verge to the Care Hub as their care needs evolve. Offering residents flexible living arrangements tailored to their needs, the Care Hub includes options for respite care, post-acute care recovery and rehabilitation, palliative care, and support for cognitive decline or mental health challenges. This adaptability ensures that residents receive the appropriate level of care while retaining the potential for independent living. By providing access to advanced care services, including end-of-life support, within their familiar community setting, residents can maintain their established social networks and sense of belonging throughout their life journey. Designed with a homelike ambiance, the Care Hub encourages visits from family members of all generations, fostering meaningful time together. Each private suite is designed to resemble a traditional home entrance, complete with a front door, creating a sense of ownership and comfort for residents. The suites feature a kitchenette, large windows with operable louvers, and views of lush bushland or the golf course. Spacious enough for private gatherings, residents can maintain their independence and uphold daily routines, such as preparing tea or coffee for family and guests. The design emphasises dignity, ensuring that residents can continue to enjoy a full and social life, regardless of their care needs. Beyond the private suites, a variety of communal spaces are designed to offer all the comforts of home. The community kitchen resembles a domestic setting and functions in multiple modes throughout the day. Equipped with high-quality, commercial-grade appliances, the chef can safely prepare meals in view of residents, creating a sensory experience filled with the aroma of freshly cooked food. Residents can also choose to use the kitchen alongside the chef and caregivers, baking for themselves or their visitors. The Verge offers flexibility with both a commercial-grade laundry and a separate resident laundry, allowing residents to maintain their independence if they wish. Specialist finishes were selected to accommodate the higher care needs of residents while maintaining a homelike atmosphere. Reflecting the local Queensland Architecture, timber panelling is featured in the private suites' wall finishes. Custom carpets are designed to resemble residential rugs but with the durability of commercial-grade carpets. Warm colours and patterns are incorporated throughout the interiors to generate lively, inviting spaces, reassuring families that their loved ones are living a fulfilling life and receiving the care and support they need.
